I’ve been using Auro for a while now and I’m really impressed with their sustainability practices. They use renewable resources and their packaging is minimal and recyclable. As for clay paints, they’re fantastic for breathability but might not be the best for high-traffic areas unless you’re okay with touch-ups. They do give a unique, matte finish that’s hard to replicate with other paints though.

Preparation is everything with old homes. I learned the hard way that skipping the primer step can lead to uneven coverage and peeling. I used a natural primer from Biofa before applying clay paint and it made all the difference. The walls look amazing and the paint has held up surprisingly well, even in the hallway.

I’m all for eco-friendly paints but don’t forget about the importance of color testing. Natural paints can look different on the wall compared to the swatch, especially in different lighting. I spent a bit extra on sample pots from Earthborn and Auro to test on my walls before committing. It saved me from a color disaster. Also, consider the sheen level for high-traffic areas; a slight sheen can make them easier to clean.
