Hey everyone! I recently took the plunge and repainted my kitchen with Earthborn Claypaint in a lovely, warm terracotta shade. I chose it for its eco-credentials and the fact it’s free from VOCs and other nasties. It’s been a dream to work with and has given my kitchen a whole new lease of life. However, as you can imagine, with all the cooking I do, the walls near the stove are starting to show signs of daily grease splatters.
I’m a bit nervous about cleaning them, though. I’ve heard that natural paints can be a bit more delicate than conventional ones, and I don’t want to damage the finish or strip away the paint. I’ve tried a mild soap solution on a small, inconspicuous area, which worked okay, but I’m wondering if there’s a better, more effective method that’s still gentle on the paint and the planet.
Has anyone else faced this issue? What cleaning solutions or methods have you found effective for maintaining the beauty of your eco-friendly painted walls without compromising their integrity? Also, if you’ve used Earthborn Claypaint or similar natural paints, how have they held up over time in high-splash zones like kitchens and bathrooms? Looking forward to hearing your experiences and tips!
Hey @GreenThumbJenny! I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint in my kitchen for over a year now, and I love it. For grease splatters, I’ve found that a mixture of white vinegar and water works wonders. It’s gentle on the paint and eco-friendly. Just mix equal parts and apply with a soft cloth. It cuts through the grease without damaging the paint finish. Also, it’s super cheap and non-toxic!

I haven’t used Earthborn Claypaint specifically, but I’ve had great results with Auro Natural Paint in my kitchen. For cleaning, I swear by a baking soda paste. Just mix baking soda with a little water to form a paste, gently rub it on the grease spots, and then wipe off with a damp cloth. It’s abrasive enough to remove grease but gentle on the paint. Plus, it’s completely natural!

@EcoWarriorSam That sounds like a great solution! I’ll definitely give the vinegar and water mix a try. Do you use any particular ratio, or is it just eyeballing it? Also, have you noticed any discoloration over time with the Earthborn Claypaint in high-splash areas?

I’m a big fan of using Ecover All-Purpose Cleaner for cleaning my eco-painted walls. It’s plant-based and works really well on grease without harming the paint. Plus, it smells great! I spray it directly on the wall, let it sit for a minute, and then wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. It’s been a game-changer for keeping my kitchen walls clean.

@GreenThumbJenny I usually go for a 50/50 mix, but honestly, I think you can adjust based on how tough the grease is. As for discoloration, I haven’t noticed any, and my kitchen gets a lot of action! The Earthborn Claypaint has held up really well, even around the stove and sink areas. It’s impressive how durable it is for being so eco-friendly.

@NatureLover88 I’ve heard good things about Ecover but haven’t tried it yet. Does it leave any residue or streaks on the walls? I’m always a bit cautious with new products, especially on such a visible area like the kitchen walls.

That baking soda paste trick sounds interesting. I might give it a try. I’ve been using a microfiber cloth with just water for light cleaning, but for tougher spots, I’ve found that a little bit of castile soap in water works wonders. It’s gentle and eco-friendly, which is a big plus for me.

I haven’t tried Earthborn Claypaint, but I’m all for eco-friendly options. For cleaning, I use a steam cleaner. It’s amazing how well it removes grease without any chemicals. Plus, it’s safe for most surfaces. Just be careful not to hold it too close to the paint for too long.

I’m a fan of using natural cleaning solutions too. For grease on walls, I mix lemon juice with water. The acidity helps break down the grease, and it leaves a fresh scent. Just remember to rinse the area with water afterward to avoid any sticky residue.
I’ve been curious about Earthborn Claypaint for a while now. Hearing about your experiences is really helpful. For cleaning, I’ve had good results with a mixture of olive oil and baking soda. It’s a bit unconventional, but it works well on grease and is safe for the paint. Just apply it with a soft cloth, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off.

Honestly, I think the key is regular maintenance. I use a damp microfiber cloth daily to wipe down the walls near my stove. It prevents grease from building up and becoming harder to clean. For tougher spots, a bit of baking soda on a damp cloth does the trick without damaging the paint.
