Hey everyone!
I’m in the middle of giving my living room a fresh, eco-friendly makeover and I’ve hit a bit of a snag. I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint for the walls, which I absolutely love for its minimal environmental impact and the beautiful, matte finish it gives. But now I’m wondering, can I use the same paint for the ceiling? Or do I need to look for something different?
I’ve previously tried Auro Natural Paints for a smaller project and was impressed by their durability and the lack of VOCs, but I’m not sure if their formula is suitable for ceilings. My main concerns are about the paint’s consistency and how it adheres to different surfaces. I’ve heard that ceilings might require a paint with a bit more elasticity to prevent cracking over time.
Has anyone here used the same eco-friendly paint for both walls and ceilings? How did it hold up? Also, are there any brands you’d recommend specifically for ceilings? I’m all ears for your experiences and suggestions! Let’s make our homes beautiful and kind to the planet.

Hey @GreenThumbJenny! I’ve used Earthborn Claypaint for both walls and ceilings in my home office, and it’s held up beautifully. The key is in the preparation. Make sure your ceiling is clean, dry, and primed if necessary. The matte finish works great for ceilings, reducing glare and hiding imperfections. I haven’t noticed any cracking or peeling, and it’s been over a year now. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

I’m in a similar boat, trying to go green with my paint choices. Does anyone know if Auro Natural Paints would work for ceilings as well? I’m curious about the elasticity issue @GreenThumbJenny mentioned.

@EcoWarriorDave Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s reassuring to hear that Earthborn Claypaint can work well on ceilings too. I’ll make sure to prep the ceiling properly. Did you use any special primer, or did you apply the paint directly?

@PaintNoob87 I’ve used Auro Natural Paints on ceilings before, and while they do a fantastic job on walls, I found that for ceilings, a paint with a bit more elasticity might be better. That said, if you’re set on using Auro, make sure to apply it in thin layers and allow plenty of drying time between coats to minimize the risk of cracking.

Has anyone tried Biofa Eco Paints for ceilings? I’m considering them for my next project because of their eco-credentials, but I’m unsure about their performance on ceilings.

@DIYQueen I haven’t used Biofa Eco Paints myself, but I’ve heard good things about their durability and eco-friendliness. If you decide to go with them, please share your experience! It’s always helpful to hear about new options.

@GreenThumbJenny I applied the Earthborn Claypaint directly after ensuring the ceiling was clean and dry. No special primer was needed in my case, but if your ceiling has any stains or is particularly porous, a primer might be a good idea.

Hey @GreenThumbJenny, I’ve been down the eco-friendly paint route myself and found that Earthborn Claypaint works just as well on ceilings as it does on walls. The trick is in the application. Use a roller with a thicker nap to get good coverage and ensure the paint adheres properly. I’ve had mine up for about two years now, and it still looks as good as the day I painted it. No cracking or peeling in sight. It’s definitely worth a shot for your ceiling too.

I went with Auro Natural Paints for my entire living space, including the ceiling, and I couldn’t be happier. Their paint has this amazing ability to self-level, which is perfect for ceilings. It minimizes brush strokes and roller marks, giving a smooth, even finish. Plus, the low VOC content means you’re not breathing in harmful chemicals while you’re up there painting. It’s been a couple of years, and the ceiling still looks pristine. Definitely consider Auro if you’re looking for something that’s both eco-friendly and ceiling-friendly.

I’ve used Auro Natural Paints for both walls and ceilings in my home, and it’s held up pretty well. The key is in the preparation. Make sure the ceiling is clean and maybe give it a light sanding for better adhesion. I didn’t notice any issues with cracking, but my ceilings don’t have any major imperfections that would stress the paint. It’s worth a try if you’re already happy with their wall paint.

Honestly, I think you can use the same eco-friendly paint for both, but ceilings might need an extra coat for even coverage. I used Earthborn Claypaint throughout my place, including the ceiling, and it looks great. Just make sure you’re using the right tools for application. A roller with a longer nap can help with the texture difference. Also, working in natural light helps spot any missed spots. It’s all about the technique, really.

I’ve used Biofa Eco Paints for both walls and ceilings in my home office. Honestly, it worked out great. The consistency was perfect for the ceiling, didn’t drip or crack, and it’s been a couple of years now with no issues. Their eco-credentials are solid, and the finish is just as good as any conventional paint I’ve used before. If you’re already considering them, I’d say go for it.
I haven’t tried Biofa Eco Paints specifically, but I did use Earthborn Claypaint on my ceilings and walls in the living room. It held up surprisingly well on the ceiling, no cracking or peeling so far. I think as long as you apply it correctly, most eco-friendly paints can work on ceilings. Just make sure to use a good primer if you’re switching from a different type of paint. Also, consider the lighting in your room; some eco-paints have a different sheen that might affect how the ceiling looks under certain lights.
