Hey everyone!
I’ve recently embarked on a journey to make my home more eco-friendly, starting with the walls. After some research, I decided to try out natural paints for my living room renovation. I went with Earthborn Claypaint because of its zero VOCs and eco-friendly credentials. The application was a breeze, and the finish is just stunning – it really brings out the texture of the walls in a way I hadn’t expected.
Before settling on Earthborn, I experimented with a couple of other brands, including Auro and Eco Paints, both of which offered great coverage and a wide range of colors. However, what really sold me on Earthborn was its compatibility with lime plaster, which is what my walls are made of. It’s fascinating how different surfaces can affect the choice of paint, isn’t it?
I’m curious to hear from others who’ve made the switch to natural paints. What brands have you tried, and how did they work out for you? Also, for those who are just starting to explore eco-friendly options, what questions do you have about natural paints? Let’s share our experiences and tips to help each other make more sustainable choices in our homes.

Great topic, @EcoPainterJane! I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint for a couple of years now, and I couldn’t be happier. The fact that it’s zero VOC is a huge plus for me, especially since I have pets. I’ve also tried Auro for my kitchen cabinets, and the durability is impressive. It’s been over a year, and they still look as good as new. For anyone just starting out, I’d recommend starting with smaller projects to see how you like the application and finish before committing to larger areas.
I’m just starting to explore natural paints, and this thread is super helpful! I have a question though - how do natural paints fare in high humidity areas like bathrooms? I’m worried about mold and peeling. Has anyone had experience with this?

@SunnyDaysAhead That’s a great question! I used Earthborn Claypaint in my bathroom, and it’s holding up really well. It’s breathable, which helps prevent mold. However, I did make sure to use a natural anti-mold primer first, just to be safe. It’s been about six months, and no issues so far!

I’ve been experimenting with Eco Paints for my bedroom, and I’m really impressed with the color depth. It’s amazing how vibrant the colors are without any synthetic additives. My only issue was the drying time; it took a bit longer than I expected. But overall, a great eco-friendly option!

@NatureLover101 I had the same experience with Eco Paints! The colors are stunning, but yes, the drying time can be a bit of a wait. I found that using a dehumidifier in the room helped speed up the process a bit. Just a tip for anyone else trying it out!

Has anyone tried mixing brands for different effects? I’m curious if, for example, using Earthborn Claypaint for the base and then adding a layer of Auro for a different texture or finish would work. Or is it better to stick with one brand for consistency?

@LeafyGreen That’s an interesting idea! I haven’t tried mixing brands myself, but I think it could work as long as the paints are compatible in terms of base ingredients. Maybe do a small test patch first to see how they interact? Would love to hear if anyone else has tried this!

Great question about natural paints in high humidity areas! I’ve used Earthborn Claypaint in my bathroom, and it’s held up surprisingly well. The key is proper ventilation and maybe a dehumidifier if your bathroom doesn’t have a window. I haven’t had issues with mold or peeling, but I did make sure to prep the walls properly before painting. It’s all about the base!

I’ve had a bit of a mixed experience with natural paints in damp areas. I used Auro in my bathroom, and while it looked great initially, I did notice some mold spots after a year. I think it really depends on the specific conditions of your bathroom and how well you can control the humidity. Maybe consider a paint with added mold inhibitors if you’re worried?

I’ve been using Auro for a while now, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. The colors are rich, and it’s been holding up well over time. I did notice it takes a bit longer to dry, but I think that’s a small price to pay for something that’s better for the environment. Has anyone else tried Auro and noticed the same thing?

I switched to natural paints last year, starting with Earthborn Claypaint, and I haven’t looked back. The difference in air quality is noticeable, especially for someone like me who’s sensitive to strong smells. The application was straightforward, and I love the matte finish. It’s great to see more people making the switch!

I tried Eco Paints in my kitchen, and while I love the color options, I did find the coverage a bit uneven. Maybe it’s just the surface I was working with, but it took a couple of coats to get it looking right. Still, it’s a solid choice for anyone looking to go green.
I’m just starting to explore natural paints, and this thread is super helpful. I’m curious about the durability of these paints compared to conventional ones. Does anyone have any insights on how they hold up over time, especially in high-traffic areas?

I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint for a few projects now, and I’m really impressed. The texture it gives to the walls is something you just don’t get with regular paint. Plus, knowing it’s eco-friendly makes me feel good about my choices. Has anyone tried mixing brands for different effects?

I’m all for eco-friendly options, but I’m a bit concerned about the cost. Natural paints seem to be on the pricier side. Does anyone have tips on where to find good deals or how to make the switch without breaking the bank?

Mixing brands can be a bit of a gamble. I tried combining Earthborn Claypaint with Auro for a textured effect in my hallway. It worked out pretty well, but I had to do a few test patches first to make sure the colors and textures blended nicely. It’s definitely doable, but patience is key.
I’ve stuck to one brand for consistency, especially since I’m not that experienced with DIY projects. I used Eco Paints throughout my house, and the uniformity really ties the rooms together. Plus, it’s one less thing to worry about when you’re in the middle of painting.

Experimenting with different brands for effects sounds interesting. I wonder if anyone has tried using natural pigments to customize their paint colors further. It could be a way to get unique shades while still keeping it eco-friendly.

I think mixing brands could work if you’re going for a specific look, but you have to consider the drying times and how the paints interact. I used Earthborn over Auro in a small area, and it turned out great, but I made sure to let the first layer dry completely before adding the second.
