Hey everyone!
I’ve been diving deep into the world of natural paints for my latest home renovation project, and I’m super excited about trying out EcoClay Clay Paint. I’ve already experimented with a couple of eco-friendly options, like insert previous brand tried, which worked well but I’m curious about the unique texture and finish that clay paints offer. Specifically, I’m looking at applying it to my living room walls, which are currently just primed plaster.
I’ve read that EcoClay is great for creating a breathable, moisture-regulating environment, which is perfect for my old, slightly damp house. But I’m a bit nervous about the application process. Has anyone here used EcoClay Clay Paint before? How did you find the consistency and coverage? Did you need to apply a special primer or could you go straight onto the plaster? Also, any tips on achieving that smooth, even finish would be greatly appreciated!
I’m all about reducing my environmental footprint, so hearing about your experiences with this or similar products would be incredibly helpful. Let’s share our eco-friendly painting journeys and tips!

Hey @GreenThumbJenny! I recently used EcoClay Clay Paint in my bedroom and was really impressed with the results. The consistency is thicker than conventional paint, which I found great for coverage. I applied it directly onto primed plaster without any issues. For a smooth finish, I recommend using a high-quality roller and applying thin, even coats. It dries to a beautiful matte finish that really brings out the texture of the clay. Good luck with your project!

Thanks @MountainHiker88! That’s really helpful to know. Did you find that the thicker consistency made it harder to work with, or was it manageable? Also, how many coats did you end up applying?

It was definitely manageable, just a bit different from what I was used to. I applied two coats, which was enough for great coverage. The key is to not overload your roller to avoid uneven application. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but totally worth it for the eco-friendly benefits and unique finish!

I’ve been curious about EcoClay too! Does anyone know how it compares to other natural paints in terms of durability and ease of cleaning? I have a toddler, so these factors are pretty important for me.

@SunnyDaysAhead, I’ve found EcoClay to be quite durable once it’s fully cured. It’s also breathable, which helps prevent mold and mildew. As for cleaning, it’s best to avoid harsh chemicals. A damp cloth usually does the trick for minor marks. For tougher stains, a mild soap solution should work without damaging the finish.

I love the idea of using natural paints, but I’m a bit concerned about the color options. Does EcoClay offer a wide range of colors, or is it more limited?
@ArtisticSoul, from what I’ve seen, EcoClay offers a pretty decent range of natural, earthy tones. They might not have the vast array of colors that conventional paints do, but the colors they offer are beautiful and blend well with natural decor. Plus, you can always mix colors to create custom shades!

Has anyone tried using EcoClay on ceilings? I’m considering it for my living room but worried about the application process overhead.

@DIYQueen, I haven’t tried it on ceilings myself, but I’ve heard it can be done. The key would be to ensure the surface is well-primed and to use a roller with an extension pole for easier application. It might take a bit more effort, but the unique texture could look amazing overhead!

I’ve been using EcoClay for a while now, and I totally agree about the thickness. It’s a bit of a workout to apply, but the coverage is unbeatable. I found that using a damp sponge to smooth out the paint after rolling helps with achieving that even finish. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the color deepens as it dries, so don’t panic if it looks lighter at first.

Interesting to hear about the direct application on primed plaster. I was considering EcoClay for my kitchen but was worried about the prep work. Did you notice any issues with durability, especially in high-traffic areas? I’m all for eco-friendly options, but I need something that can handle a bit of wear and tear.

I tried EcoClay in my bathroom, and while I love the aesthetic, I did run into some issues with moisture. It’s supposed to be breathable, but in a really damp environment, I found it took longer to dry and didn’t adhere as well in some spots. Maybe it’s just my application technique, but something to keep in mind if you’re thinking about using it in a similar space.

For those worried about the environmental impact, EcoClay is a game-changer. Not only is it non-toxic, but the production process is way more sustainable than traditional paints. I did a bit of research and was impressed by their commitment to reducing carbon footprint. Plus, the natural pigments give such a unique, rich color that you just can’t get with synthetic dyes.

I’ve used EcoClay in my kid’s room, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer. The durability is pretty solid; we’ve had it up for about a year now, and it’s holding up well against the usual toddler chaos. Cleaning is straightforward – a damp cloth does the trick for most marks. It’s not as wipeable as some synthetic paints, but for a natural product, it’s impressive. Just make sure to give it a good 4 weeks to fully cure before you start scrubbing at it.

I was in the same boat, worried about durability with little ones around. I went with EcoClay for the nursery and haven’t looked back. It’s been about 8 months, and it’s stood up to crayons, sticky fingers, and the occasional food fight. Cleaning is a breeze as long as you’re gentle. I’d say it’s on par with other natural paints I’ve tried, maybe even a bit better. Plus, the peace of mind knowing it’s non-toxic is priceless.
I used EcoClay in my kitchen and was pleasantly surprised by the color range. They have a pretty decent selection, including some vibrant options. I went with a soft sage green and it turned out beautifully. The key is to mix the paint well to get the true color. Also, their website has a color chart that’s pretty accurate to what you’ll get on your walls.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with the color options. I was looking for a specific shade of blue and couldn’t find it. Ended up going with a different brand that offered more variety. EcoClay is great for the environment, but if you’re picky about colors, you might find their range limiting.
I think the color range is decent, but what really impressed me was how the colors looked in different lights. My living room gets a lot of sunlight, and the color I chose from EcoClay changes beautifully throughout the day. It’s like having multiple colors in one. Definitely worth checking out their samples before deciding.

I was worried about the color options too, but I found that EcoClay’s colors are very natural and earthy, which is exactly what I wanted for my bedroom. It creates such a calming atmosphere. If you’re into bold colors, though, you might find their palette a bit muted.
