Hey everyone!
I’ve been on a mission to make my home as eco-friendly as possible, and recently, I decided to tackle the walls. I’ve been experimenting with different natural paint brands, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey! I started with Earthborn Paints, known for their breathable, eco-friendly claypaint. The coverage was fantastic, and the colors were vibrant, but I was curious about how it stacked up against others in terms of cost and durability.
Next up, I tried Auro, a brand that prides itself on natural ingredients and sustainability. Their paint was a bit pricier, but the application was smooth, and the finish was impeccable. I used it in my kitchen, and it’s holding up beautifully against moisture and daily wear.
Lastly, I gave Eco Paints a go. Their zero-VOC paint was a dream to work with, and the price point was more accessible. However, I noticed it required an extra coat for full coverage, which made me wonder about the overall cost-effectiveness.
So, here’s my question to you all: Have you tried any of these brands, or others in the eco-friendly paint market? How do they compare in terms of cost, performance, and environmental impact? I’m especially curious about long-term durability and any unexpected benefits or drawbacks you’ve encountered. Let’s share our experiences and help each other make informed, sustainable choices for our homes!

Great topic, @GreenThumbJenny! I’ve also been exploring eco-friendly paints and have had a chance to try out Earthborn Paints. I was really impressed with the coverage and how vibrant the colors stayed over time. However, I did notice that in high-traffic areas, it started to show wear a bit sooner than I expected. Have you experienced anything similar?

I’ve been using Auro for a couple of years now, and I must say, the durability is top-notch. It’s a bit of an investment upfront, but considering how well it’s held up in my bathroom (hello, humidity!), I think it’s worth every penny. Plus, the peace of mind knowing it’s all natural is priceless. @GreenThumbJenny, how did you find the smell during application? I remember it being quite mild compared to conventional paints.

Has anyone tried Biofa? I’ve heard good things about their eco-friendly paints but haven’t taken the plunge yet. I’m particularly interested in their wood finishes. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

@SunnyDaze, I’ve used Biofa for both walls and wood finishes, and I’m really happy with the results. The wood finish, in particular, brought out the natural grain beautifully and has protected my furniture well. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and eco-friendliness make it worth it for me.

I’m just starting my eco-friendly paint journey and this thread is gold! Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences. I’m leaning towards trying Eco Paints first due to the price point, but I’m curious about the extra coat needed for full coverage. @GreenThumbJenny, did you find that it significantly increased the overall cost?

Hey @GreenThumbJenny, I’ve been down the eco-friendly paint rabbit hole too! I tried Earthborn Paints in my living room and loved the initial look, but like you mentioned, it did start to show wear in high-traffic areas quicker than I hoped. I ended up touching up those spots more often than I’d like. Have you found any tricks to extend its durability?

I’m all about Auro for my projects. The price tag did make me hesitate at first, but the quality and finish are unmatched. I used it in my bathroom, and it’s been holding up against humidity like a champ. The only downside is the limited color range compared to others. Anyone else wish they had more options?

I gave Eco Paints a shot in my kid’s room, and while I appreciated the zero-VOC aspect, I agree about the extra coats. It felt like I was going through paint faster, which kinda offset the lower price point. On the bright side, the peace of mind knowing it’s safer for my kids is priceless. Has anyone else found a zero-VOC paint that doesn’t require as many coats?

I’ve been experimenting with mixing brands to get the best of both worlds. For example, using Earthborn Paints for the base and then a more durable, eco-friendly topcoat from another brand. It’s a bit of a hassle, but the results have been worth it so far. Anyone else mixing and matching with success?

I’m curious about the environmental impact of these paints beyond just being low-VOC. Like, how sustainable are the ingredients and the manufacturing process? I tried looking into it, but it’s hard to find clear info. Has anyone done a deep dive into this aspect of eco-friendly paints?

I did notice it’s a bit on the pricier side, but for the quality and peace of mind, I think it’s worth it. Has anyone else tried it in high-traffic areas? Curious about its durability over time.

I tried Eco Paints in my kid’s room and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to apply. The zero-VOC aspect was a big plus for me, especially since it’s for a child’s space. I did have to do an extra coat like you mentioned, but overall, I’m happy with the result. It’s been a few months and it’s holding up well. Anyone else use it in a kid’s room?
I’ve been curious about Auro after hearing so many good things. The price point has been a bit of a deterrent for me, but hearing about its durability, especially in humid areas like bathrooms, is making me reconsider. I’m planning a bathroom renovation soon and might just take the plunge. Any tips for first-time Auro users?
