Comparing the durability of eco-paints on ceilings: Which brand lasts the longest?

Hey everyone! I’ve been on a mission to make my home as eco-friendly as possible, and my latest project has been repainting the ceilings with natural, non-toxic paints. I’ve tried a couple of brands so far, like Earthborn and Auro, and while I love their low VOC content and the fact that they’re made from natural ingredients, I’m curious about their durability over time. Specifically, I’m wondering which brand holds up best on ceilings, considering factors like humidity and temperature changes in different rooms.

I used Earthborn’s Claypaint in my living room, which has high ceilings and gets a lot of sunlight. So far, it’s been holding up well, but it’s only been a few months. On the other hand, I tried Auro’s Plant-Based Paint in the bathroom, thinking its moisture resistance would be a game-changer. It’s been great, but I’m noticing a slight difference in color after a couple of months, possibly due to the humidity.

I’m really keen to hear from others who’ve used eco-paints on their ceilings. Have you noticed any differences in durability between brands? How do they handle in high humidity areas like bathrooms or kitchens? Also, if anyone has tried Biofa or Ecos paints, I’d love to hear your experiences with those as well. Let’s share our stories and help each other make more informed choices for our eco-friendly homes!

I’ve been using Ecos Paints for a couple of years now, and I must say, their durability on ceilings is impressive. I painted my kitchen ceiling with their Lullaby range, and despite the steam and occasional splashes, it’s held up remarkably well. No fading or peeling, which is a huge plus for me. I haven’t tried Earthborn or Auro yet, but based on your experience, I might give them a shot for my next project.

Interesting topic! I’ve been curious about Biofa paints. Has anyone here used them on ceilings? I’m particularly interested in how they perform in high humidity areas like bathrooms.

@GreenThumb88 That’s great to hear about Ecos Paints! I’ve been considering them for my kitchen as well. How do you find the application process? Is it similar to conventional paints, or does it require a different approach?

@SkyWatcher I’ve used Biofa in my bathroom, and I’m quite pleased with the results. The color has remained consistent, and there’s no sign of mold or mildew, which is a common issue in high humidity areas. The application was straightforward, though I did apply two coats for even coverage.

I’ve experimented with several eco-friendly paints, and I must say, Auro has been my favorite so far. I used their Plant-Based Paint in my living room, which faces south and gets a lot of sunlight. The color has faded slightly over the past year, but it’s still holding up better than some conventional paints I’ve used in the past. For ceilings, I think it’s a solid choice, especially if you’re looking for something that’s both durable and eco-friendly.

@DIYQueen Thanks for sharing your experience with Auro! It’s reassuring to hear that it holds up well against sunlight. I’ll definitely consider it for my next project. Did you notice any difference in application or drying time compared to conventional paints?

I’m all for eco-friendly paints, but I’m a bit skeptical about their durability, especially on ceilings. Has anyone had any negative experiences with eco-paints peeling or cracking over time?

@SunnyDays I understand your concern. I haven’t experienced any peeling or cracking with Ecos Paints, but I did have a minor issue with Earthborn’s Claypaint in a room with fluctuating temperatures. It developed some fine cracks after a year, but nothing too severe. It might be worth considering the specific conditions of your space before choosing a paint.

Interesting to hear about Ecos Paints. I’ve been leaning towards Biofa for my next project because I’ve read they have a unique formula that’s supposed to be super durable. Has anyone here tried Biofa on their ceilings? I’m particularly curious about how it handles in rooms with fluctuating temperatures.

I’ve used Auro in my bathroom and while I love the eco-friendly aspect, I did notice some color change over time, probably due to the humidity. It’s good to know Ecos Paints hold up better in such conditions. Maybe I’ll switch brands for my next repaint. Does anyone know if Ecos Paints offer a wide range of colors?

I haven’t tried Ecos Paints yet, but your positive experience makes me consider it. I’ve been using Earthborn in my living room and it’s been great so far, but it’s only been a few months. I’m curious about how it will hold up over time, especially in areas with a lot of sunlight. Has anyone had Earthborn on their ceilings for a longer period?

I’ve actually used Biofa in my kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has held up surprisingly well, no issues with steam or cooking fumes affecting the paint. The bathroom, though, is a different story. After about six months, I noticed some areas where the paint seemed to be peeling slightly, especially around the shower. It might be due to the constant humidity. I’m considering trying a different brand for the bathroom but sticking with Biofa for the kitchen.

That’s interesting about Biofa. I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve been using Ecos paints throughout my house, including the bathroom. So far, so good. It’s been over a year, and I haven’t noticed any peeling or color changes, even in high humidity areas. Maybe it’s worth giving Ecos a shot if you’re looking for something more durable in the bathroom.

I’ve been using Auro in my living room and bedroom, and it’s been great. No issues with durability, and the colors have stayed vibrant. But I haven’t tried it in the bathroom yet. Hearing about the peeling with Biofa makes me hesitant to use anything but Auro in high humidity areas, even though it’s a bit pricier. Has anyone else had good experiences with Auro in bathrooms?

I’ve been curious about Ecos paints too, especially since they claim to be completely non-toxic and eco-friendly. Has anyone noticed any strong smells or off-gassing with Ecos? I’m particularly sensitive to smells, so that’s a big factor for me. Also, how does it compare to Earthborn in terms of application? I found Earthborn a bit tricky to apply evenly.

I’ve been using Ecos paint in my kitchen for over a year now, and honestly, it’s been holding up pretty well. No peeling or cracking, even with all the steam from cooking. I was skeptical at first too, but it’s changed my mind about eco-paints. Definitely worth considering if you’re worried about durability.

I tried Biofa in my bathroom, and while I love the eco-friendly aspect, I did notice some discoloration after a few months. It’s not peeling or cracking, but the color change is noticeable. Maybe it’s just the high humidity in there. Still, I’m happy with it overall.

I had a bad experience with Earthborn in my sunroom. The paint started to fade after just a few months, and there were a few spots where it seemed to crack. I’m not sure if it’s the brand or just the intense sunlight, but it’s made me hesitant to try eco-paints again.
