Hey everyone!
I’ve been diving deep into the world of eco-friendly renovations lately, and I’ve got to say, choosing the right paint has been quite the journey. I recently stumbled upon ECOS Paints and was blown away by their commitment to sustainability and non-toxic ingredients. But, as with many eco-friendly products, the price tag made me pause. Compared to traditional brands like Behr or Benjamin Moore, ECOS is definitely on the higher end. But here’s the thing - when you consider the environmental impact and the fact that you’re not releasing harmful VOCs into your home, it starts to feel like a no-brainer.
I’ve tried a couple of other brands like AFM Safecoat and Earthborn Paint in the past, and while they’re great, ECOS’s range and color options really stood out to me. Plus, their paint went on so smoothly on my living room walls, which are a mix of plaster and drywall. It’s been a couple of months, and the color still looks as vibrant as day one, with no off-gassing smell, which is a huge plus.
So, I’m curious, has anyone else made the switch to ECOS or another eco-friendly brand? Do you think the benefits outweigh the cost? And for those who’ve tried multiple brands, how do they compare in terms of application and longevity? Let’s discuss!

Great topic, @GreenThumbJenny! I’ve been using ECOS Paints for my home renovations over the past year, and I must say, the difference is night and day compared to traditional paints. The lack of VOCs is a game-changer for indoor air quality. Yes, the price is higher, but when you factor in the health benefits and the environmental impact, it’s worth every penny. Plus, their durability is impressive. My walls still look fresh after months!

I’ve tried both ECOS and Earthborn Paint, and while I love the eco-friendly aspect, I found Earthborn to be a bit more budget-friendly without compromising much on quality. Their application was smooth, and the colors were vibrant. However, ECOS does have a wider range of colors, which is a big plus if you’re looking for something specific.

@EcoWarriorDave, I completely agree about the indoor air quality! It’s one of the main reasons I decided to go with ECOS. Have you tried any of their specialty finishes? I’m considering using their chalkboard paint for a project but would love to hear your experience if you have.

I’m all for eco-friendly paints, but I have to ask, does anyone have tips for making the switch more affordable? I’m on a tight budget but want to make my home safer and more sustainable.

@NatureLover23, one tip is to look for sales or bulk discounts. ECOS sometimes offers deals, especially around Earth Day. Also, consider prioritizing which rooms to paint with eco-friendly options first, like bedrooms or nurseries, to spread out the cost.

@DIYQueen, in my experience, ECOS covers just as well, if not better, than traditional paints. I didn’t need to apply extra coats, which actually made it more cost-effective in the long run.

I’m curious about the drying time for ECOS Paints compared to traditional options. Does it take longer since it’s eco-friendly?

@SunnyDaysAhead, ECOS Paints actually dry pretty quickly, similar to traditional paints. I didn’t notice any significant difference in drying time, which was a pleasant surprise.

For those who’ve used multiple eco-friendly brands, how does ECOS compare in terms of odor during application? I’ve heard some brands are better than others.

@GreenMachine, ECOS is one of the best I’ve tried in terms of low odor. It’s almost non-existent, which is great for sensitive noses or if you’re painting in a well-used space.

Totally agree with you on ECOS Paints! I switched last year and haven’t looked back. The price did make me hesitate at first, but the quality and peace of mind knowing I’m not breathing in toxins is priceless. Plus, their customer service is top-notch. Had a question about a color, and they were super helpful.

I’ve been on the fence about trying ECOS because of the cost, but hearing about the durability and air quality benefits is convincing. Does anyone know if they offer samples? I’d love to test a few colors before committing to a whole gallon.

I tried ECOS for a small project and was impressed, but for larger areas, I still lean towards traditional brands due to budget constraints. It’s a tough call because I do care about the environment, but sometimes the wallet has the final say. Anyone else feel this way?

The eco-friendly aspect is definitely worth the extra cost for me. I have allergies, and since switching to ECOS, I’ve noticed a significant improvement. It’s not just about the paint; it’s about creating a healthier living space. Plus, their colors are so vibrant and long-lasting.

I’ve been using AFM Safecoat for a while now, and while it’s great, I’m intrigued by ECOS’s color options. Has anyone compared the two in terms of coverage and ease of application? I’m considering making the switch for my next project.
It’s interesting to hear everyone’s experiences. I think the key is to weigh the pros and cons based on your specific needs. For those concerned about cost, maybe start with one room and see how it goes. I started with my bedroom and was so happy with the results, I gradually switched the rest of the house. It’s an investment in your health and the planet.

I totally get where you’re coming from with the price concern. I switched to ECOS last year for my kid’s room and haven’t looked back. The peace of mind knowing it’s non-toxic is worth every penny. Plus, the durability is unmatched. My walls have survived crayon masterpieces and sticky fingers without a scratch. It’s an investment in health and longevity, imo.

Interesting take on Earthborn vs. ECOS. I went with Earthborn for my kitchen and have been pretty happy with it. The price was definitely easier on the wallet, and the finish is great. But, I do wonder about the color options for my next project. ECOS’s range sounds tempting, especially for something more unique. Has anyone tried mixing brands for different rooms? Curious how that’s worked out.
