Hey everyone! I’ve been diving deep into the world of natural paints for my latest home renovation project, and I’ve got to say, it’s been quite the journey. I’m currently working on a bathroom that’s prone to mold, and I’m determined to find a natural paint solution that can stand up to the challenge. I’ve been experimenting with Earthborn Claypaint, which boasts not only eco-friendly credentials but also claims to offer excellent mold resistance due to its breathable nature.
Previously, I tried Auro Natural Paint in another room, and while I loved its environmental footprint and the finish it gave, I’m not sure it’s the best fit for high-moisture areas. The application process was smooth, and it adhered well to plastered walls, but I’m curious about its performance against mold over time.
Here’s where I need your collective wisdom: Have any of you used natural paints in damp environments? How did they hold up against mold? Specifically, I’m interested in hearing about your experiences with surface preparation and application techniques that might enhance mold resistance. Did you find that certain brands or types of natural paint performed better in these conditions? Let’s share our stories and tips to help each other make our homes more sustainable and mold-free!
I’ve had a great experience with Earthborn Claypaint in my bathroom. The key to mold resistance is not just the paint but also ensuring the surface is properly prepared. I made sure to clean the walls thoroughly and used a natural anti-mold primer before applying the paint. It’s been over a year, and no signs of mold yet!

I tried Auro Natural Paint in my kitchen, which also gets quite steamy. While I love the eco-friendly aspect, I did notice some mold spots after a few months. I’m considering switching to Earthborn Claypaint based on your experience. Any tips on the transition?

@SandyShore23 Definitely make sure to remove all the old paint and treat the surface with a natural anti-mold solution before applying Earthborn Claypaint. It’s a bit of work, but it’s worth it for the mold resistance.

Has anyone tried adding essential oils like tea tree oil to their natural paint for extra mold resistance? I’ve heard it can be effective, but I’m not sure about the impact on the paint’s consistency and color.

@LeafyLane45 That’s an interesting idea! I’m curious about the dosage and if it affects the paint’s adhesion or finish. Maybe someone here has experimented with it?

I’ve been using Biofa Natural Paints in my bathroom and have been really impressed with their mold resistance. They have a specific bathroom paint that’s designed for high humidity areas. The application was straightforward, and it’s held up well over the past two years.

I’ve been using Earthborn Claypaint in my bathroom for over a year now, and it’s been a game-changer. The key for me was ensuring the walls were completely dry and clean before application. I also used a natural anti-mold primer as a base, which I think really helped. So far, no mold issues, and the paint has held up beautifully against the steam and moisture.

Switching to Earthborn Claypaint sounds like a good move. I haven’t used it myself, but I’ve heard great things about its mold resistance. Just make sure to ventilate the room well during and after painting. Good ventilation is crucial in preventing mold, regardless of the paint type.

I had a similar experience with Auro Natural Paint in my bathroom. It looked great at first, but the mold started showing up after a few months. I ended up switching to a different brand that’s specifically formulated for high-moisture areas. It’s been a couple of years, and I haven’t had any mold issues since. Maybe look into paints that are specifically designed for bathrooms or kitchens?
I think the surface prep is just as important as the paint choice. I used Earthborn Claypaint in my kitchen, and before applying, I made sure to clean the walls with a vinegar solution to kill any existing mold spores. Then, I applied a natural mold-resistant primer. It’s been over two years, and the walls still look great. No mold in sight.

I’m curious about the long-term durability of natural paints in damp environments. Has anyone had to repaint after a few years due to wear or mold issues? I’m considering natural paints for my bathroom renovation but worried about the maintenance. Also, how do these paints hold up to cleaning and scrubbing?
I’ve actually tried adding tea tree oil to my natural paint mix for a small project in my bathroom. It did seem to help with mold resistance, but I noticed it slightly altered the paint’s consistency, making it a bit thinner. The color wasn’t affected much, but I’d recommend doing a small test area first to see how it reacts with your specific paint.

Interesting idea with the tea tree oil! I haven’t tried that myself, but I’ve used vinegar as a natural mold inhibitor in paint before. It didn’t change the consistency much, but the smell was pretty strong at first. It faded after a few days, though, and so far, no mold in that area.

I’ve used Earthborn Claypaint in my kitchen, which gets pretty steamy, and it’s held up really well against mold. I didn’t add anything extra to it, just made sure the walls were properly prepped and clean before applying. Maybe the key is in the preparation rather than additives?

I’m a bit skeptical about adding essential oils directly to paint. Wouldn’t that mess with the paint’s ability to adhere to the wall? I’ve heard of people using mold-resistant primers under their natural paint instead. That might be a safer bet for long-term mold resistance.

Has anyone considered the pH level of the paint when trying to combat mold? I read somewhere that mold doesn’t like alkaline environments. Maybe choosing a natural paint with a higher pH could naturally deter mold without needing to add anything extra.

I’ve been using Auro Natural Paint in my bathroom for over a year now, and while I love its eco-friendliness, I have noticed some mold spots starting to appear in the corners. I’m thinking of trying a different brand or maybe even a lime wash for better mold resistance. Any recommendations?
