Hey everyone!
I recently took on the project of repainting my kitchen cabinets and decided to go the sustainable route. After some research, I settled on using Earthborn Paints, specifically their Claypaint line. It’s a breathable, eco-friendly option that’s perfect for giving cabinets a fresh look without the guilt of harming the planet.
I’ve previously tried Biofa and Auro for smaller projects around the house, and while they’re both fantastic, I wanted something with a bit more durability for the kitchen. The application process was surprisingly smooth – the paint went on evenly, and the finish is just what I was hoping for. One thing to note is that surface prep is key; I made sure to clean and lightly sand the cabinets beforehand to ensure the best adhesion.
I’m curious, has anyone else used Claypaint or any other sustainable paints for their kitchen cabinets? How did you find the durability and finish over time? Also, any tips for maintaining the eco-friendly aspect of the paint job, like specific cleaning products or techniques? Let’s share our experiences and help each other make more sustainable choices in our DIY projects!
Great choice with Earthborn Paints! I used their Claypaint for my living room walls last year and was really impressed with the coverage and how it held up over time. For kitchen cabinets, durability is key, so I’m curious to hear how it performs in a high-traffic area like the kitchen. Did you apply a topcoat for extra protection?

I haven’t tried Claypaint yet, but I’m a big fan of Biofa for its eco-friendly credentials. I used it on my bathroom cabinets, and it’s been holding up well against moisture. For kitchen cabinets, I’d recommend looking into Livos as well. They have a range of natural oils and waxes that can provide a durable finish. Has anyone here tried Livos for kitchen cabinets?

@GreenThumb88 I didn’t apply a topcoat, as I wanted to keep the finish as natural as possible. So far, the Claypaint has been holding up really well, even with daily use. I’m careful with cleaning, using a soft cloth and mild, eco-friendly soap. It’s been a few months, and I haven’t noticed any wear or tear yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I’m in the process of choosing a sustainable paint for my kitchen cabinets, and this thread is super helpful! I’m leaning towards Auro because of their commitment to sustainability and the positive reviews I’ve read. Does anyone have experience with Auro in a kitchen setting? How does it compare to Earthborn Paints in terms of application and durability?

@NatureLover101 I’ve used Auro for smaller projects and found it to be excellent in terms of eco-friendliness and finish. However, for kitchen cabinets, I chose Earthborn Paints because I wanted something a bit more durable. Auro is fantastic, but in a high-traffic area like the kitchen, you might want to consider the durability factor more carefully. Both brands are great choices, though!

Just a quick tip for anyone considering sustainable paints: don’t forget about the primer! Using an eco-friendly primer can make a big difference in the final look and durability of your paint job. I used Ecos Primer under my Claypaint and it worked wonders. It’s worth the extra step for a flawless finish.

@SustainaBill That’s a great point! I also used an eco-friendly primer before applying the Claypaint. It really does help with the adhesion and overall finish. I went with Earthborn’s Primer to keep everything in the same product line, and it worked perfectly. Definitely recommend not skipping this step!
