Recommendations for the most sustainable paint choices for energy-efficient homes

Hey everyone! :herb: I’ve been diving deep into making my home more energy-efficient and sustainable, and I’ve hit a bit of a crossroads when it comes to choosing the right paint. I recently tried Earthborn Claypaint for my living room and was blown away by its natural texture and how it helped regulate the room’s humidity. But now, I’m looking to paint my entire house and want to explore other options that align with my green living goals.

I’m particularly interested in paints that are not only eco-friendly but also contribute to the energy efficiency of my home. I’ve heard great things about Biofa’s natural paints and their compatibility with various surfaces, but I’m curious if anyone has experience with their thermal insulation properties? Also, has anyone tried Auro’s natural paints? I’m intrigued by their claim of being 100% natural and their range of colors.

What are your go-to sustainable paint brands for energy-efficient homes? Have you noticed a difference in your home’s temperature regulation or energy bills after switching to natural paints? Let’s share our experiences and help each other make more informed, eco-conscious choices! :art::green_heart:

Hey @EcoPainterJane, great topic! I’ve been using Biofa’s natural paints for a couple of years now, and I must say, the difference in air quality is noticeable. While I can’t provide hard data on thermal insulation, the paint does seem to help maintain a more consistent temperature in my home. Plus, the application process was a breeze, and the finish is beautiful. Highly recommend giving it a try!

I’ve experimented with several eco-friendly paints, and Earthborn Claypaint remains my favorite for its texture and humidity regulation. However, for energy efficiency, I’ve also had good experiences with Ecos Organic Paints. They’re VOC-free and have a wide range of colors. Plus, their customer service is excellent for any application questions.

Has anyone tried mixing different brands of natural paints to achieve a custom color? I’m thinking of experimenting but worried about compatibility issues. Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

@RusticRoots, I’ve mixed Biofa’s natural paints with a bit of Earthborn Claypaint to adjust the texture and color for a feature wall. It worked out well, but I’d recommend doing a small test patch first to ensure compatibility and that you’re happy with the result. Patience is key!

Interesting to hear about Biofa’s natural paints. I’ve been considering them for my kitchen. I’m all about improving air quality, especially in spaces where I cook. Has anyone tried them in high-moisture areas? I’m curious about their durability and if they can handle the steam and occasional splashes without peeling or molding.

Just chiming in to say that I’ve been considering switching to natural paints for a while now. Hearing about Auro’s durability from you guys is really encouraging. I’m curious, though, about the application process. Is it similar to regular paint, or are there special techniques needed?

I’ve been on the fence about natural paints, mainly because of the cost. But after reading about the durability and eco-friendliness of Auro’s paints, I’m seriously considering it. Does anyone know if there are any government incentives or rebates for using eco-friendly paints? That might help offset the initial investment.

They claim to be 100% natural, and I believe it because there was no odor at all. I can’t say for sure if it’s made a difference in my energy bills, but I feel good knowing I’m not breathing in harmful chemicals.
