Seeking advice: How to match existing colors with eco-friendly paint options?

Hey everyone! I’m in the middle of refreshing my living room and I’m determined to stick to eco-friendly options this time around. I’ve got this beautiful, earthy green on my walls that I absolutely love, but it’s from a conventional paint brand. I’m looking to touch up some areas and possibly repaint a few walls, but I want to switch to a natural paint that matches this color as closely as possible.

So far, I’ve experimented with a couple of samples from Earthborn Paints and Eco Paints, both of which have impressive eco-credentials. Earthborn’s Claypaint has a lovely matte finish that I think could work well, but I’m not sure about color matching. Has anyone successfully matched existing colors with these or other natural paint brands?

I’m also curious about your experiences with surface compatibility. My walls are a mix of plaster and drywall – should I be considering different types of natural paint for each? And for those who’ve made the switch, how do you find the environmental impact of natural paints compared to conventional ones, especially in terms of VOC levels and the manufacturing process?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and any tips you might have for a fellow eco-conscious DIYer!

Hey @GreenThumbJenny, I’ve been in a similar situation trying to match colors with eco-friendly paints. I found that Earthborn Paints offers a color matching service that’s pretty accurate. You might want to check if they can match your earthy green. As for surface compatibility, I’ve used their Claypaint on both plaster and drywall without any issues. The matte finish really brings out the depth of the color, in my opinion.

I’ve had great success with Eco Paints for color matching. They have a wide range of natural pigments, and their customer service is super helpful in finding the right shade. Regarding environmental impact, it’s a game-changer. The VOC levels are significantly lower, and knowing the manufacturing process is more sustainable gives me peace of mind. Definitely worth the switch!

@EcoWarrior123 I second the recommendation for Eco Paints. Their commitment to sustainability is impressive, and the quality of their paints is top-notch. Have you tried their eggshell finish? I’m considering it for my next project but would love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve had a good experience with Eco Paints for color matching. They have a wide range of natural pigments that can be mixed to get pretty close to any color you’re aiming for. I used their paint to match a deep blue in my kitchen, and it turned out great. Just make sure to get a sample first to test it out in your space. The light can really change how the color looks.

Switching to eco-friendly paints was a game changer for me, especially with the low VOC levels. I used Earthborn Paints in my bedroom and noticed the difference in air quality almost immediately. As for matching your earthy green, I’d recommend bringing a sample of your current paint to a store that carries eco-friendly options. They can often do a custom mix for you. And don’t worry about the plaster and drywall; most natural paints adhere well to both.

I’ve been down the eco-friendly paint route before and it’s definitely a learning curve. I used Earthborn Paints for my kitchen and while the color match wasn’t perfect, it was close enough for me. The matte finish is a big plus in my book. As for surface compatibility, I didn’t notice any issues on my plaster walls, but I did a test patch first just to be safe. The lower VOC levels are a huge win for air quality, especially in smaller spaces.

Switching to natural paints was a bit of a hassle at first, but totally worth it. I went with Eco Paints for my bedroom and the color match was spot on. Their customer service really knows their stuff. I was worried about how it would hold up on drywall, but it’s been fine. The environmental aspect is what sold me though. It feels good to know I’m not contributing to harmful manufacturing processes.
